Preview Tasting Before the Shiribeshi "Foods" PR Event
An event promoting the local "foods" of Shiribeshi region is planned to coincide with the July Hokkaido Toyako Summit. To preceed the event, on June 8th a preview tasting for the parties concerned was held at Makkari, the village adjacent to Rusutsu where the International Medial Center is located.
The Executive Committee of the event consisting of 41 organizations, including agricultural cooperatives and the chamber of commerce of the Shiribeshi region, is planning an event on July 5th and 6th to promote local foods and produce to visitors from around the world who will be coming for the Hokkaido Toyako Summit.
On June 8th, chefs from local restaurants prepared Japanese and western dishes using an abundance of locally grown fresh vegetables and offered them to the farmers who produced them.

"Your mouth feels fresh when you eat it with the vegetables. It's great they've come up with a dish like thisc."
Using the Summit as a vehicle, the Executive Committee hopes to promote the attractiveness of the "foods" of Shiribeshi to the world.
