Volcano Science Museum
Renewed in April 2007. The museum introduces the volcanic activity of
Mt. Usu, especially the eruptions in 1977 and in March 2000, with movies,
comments and virtual equipment.
Open: 09:00~ 17:00 (closed from 31st December to 1st January)
Fee: adult 600 yen, children 300 yen

Nishiyama Crater Promenade
The sight of the eruption in March 2000 has been preserved as an educational
tool. A wooden walking trail has been created and you can experience the
great powers of nature such as active volcanic vents, underground lava
flows and buildings and roads that have fallen victim to movements in
the earth's crust and volcanic cinders.

Memorial Trail of Konpira Crater, 2000 Eruption
This shows the scars of the Mt. Usu eruption in March 2000. It is located
near to an onsen (hot-spring) town and has a pavement for walking. You
are able to see devastated ‘Yasuragi no Ie’ and the bridge washed away
by an avalanche of rocks, volcanic ash and mud.

Toyako Tourist Morning Market
The market held by local farmhouses and fisheries at the onsen town plaza opens on Sunday from 06:00 to 08:00 am, from May to September. Its appeal is that products are fresh and 20~ 30% cheaper than market prices.

Toya Marusen Market
The bustling market is full of specialty goods from Toyako town, such
as agricultural products, seafood and other goods.

Foot Bath Pocket Park
The park which opened in November 2004 has a hand bath and foot bath
with 100% onsen water ‘Yakushi- no Yu’.

Foot Bath: Touron no Yu
Standing by Lake Toya, Touron no Yu is a 100% onsen water foot bath that
was opened in December 2003. You can have great views of Lake Toya for
all four seasons.

Onsen Stand
An unusual onsen water vending machine. Sold at 50 yen per 100 liters,
it is very reasonable. You are able to take the water home in a plastic
tank and enjoy an onsen in your own bath.

Toyako Sculpture Park
58 sculptures are located in the 36.5 km area surrounding the outer perimeter
of Lake Toya. A confrontation between artist and nature has produced a
space full of emotion and added fresh appeal to the lake shore.

The Windsor Hotel Toya
Towering down over Toyako(Lake Toya) on a hill 616m above sea level is The Windsor Hotel Toya that has been named as the main assembly hall for the summit. It was built in 1993. It is a stereotypical resort hotel and one of its sales points is the view of the Uchiura Bay and Lake Toya extending out on both sides.
